Sunday 3rd August was the Finals day for the Warwickshire County Bowls Association, held at Welford-on-Avon BC.
At 10am the Fours final between Erdington Court, skipped by SIBC club member Ben Harris, and Avenue Leamingtons Adam Smith.
Erdington got of to the better start, leading 10-1. Avenue pulled back in the second half but could not deny the Erdington four of victory. Final score 17 - 14. They will now represent Warwickshire at the National Finals on Thu 21st August 2025 12:45pm on C5 against John Baker-Yates, Anthony Booth-Young, Lloyd Milligan, Lewis Rimmer from Heaton Hall, Lancashire.
Also playing at 10am were the Senior Fours with the Sherwood Park team including club members Hughie Dunachie and Gary Langford playing the home four from Welford skipped by Martin Timms.
in the opposite of the fours match the Sherwood team lost the first few ends to trial 6-0 before getting on the board, but consitent bowls from all four players meant they headed into the last end 1 up. A solid final end meant Welford were always looking to disturb the head and the Sherwood team picked up 2 shots to take the County title. They will now represent Warwickshire at the National Finals on Sun 17th August 2025 against Keith Holloway, John Nicholls, Chris Charles, Mark Sykes from Banbury Central Bowling Club, Oxfordshire
At 2pm the unbadged singles took place with SIBC's Andrew Powell facing Sam Shuttleworth from Whitnash. Sam is also a regular at the club, playing on Monday evenings alongside his Whitnash club mates.
In a nip and tuck match Sam's experience in playing National Competitions in the Junior Events got him over the line 21-17. But a great performance from Andrew in his first county final should give him the confidence to go one further next season.
Saturday 2nd August saw the Womens Finals played at Lillington BC. With SIBC Members Emily Kernick playing in the Singles and Pairs finals and Lily-Mae Adams in the Triples. We have not seen as results published so far, but will update this post when we do have confirmation of the results.
