Upcoming Club Events at the Club

Oct 1
4 min read

There is plenty happening at the Club over the coming weeks, with something for everyone who enjoys good company, friendly competition, and a reason to get out for the evening.

All of these events are ran and organised by volunteer members of the club, so please come and support these fantastic evenings.

October brings Games Night, Bingo, Whist Drive, and the return of our monthly Quiz Night. Then November begins with a valuable free first aid training session, plus plans for new Love to Move sessions to help members and visitors stay active through the colder months.

Whether you are a regular face at the Club or thinking of coming along for the first time, these events are relaxed, welcoming, and open to anyone who would like to join in.

October starts with Games Night

Our monthly Games Night takes place on Tuesday 6 October at 7pm.

This is a sociable evening built around board games and more. It is a great chance to have a laugh, try something different, and enjoy a bit of friendly competition without taking things too seriously.

There will be games to suit different tastes, so there is no need to be an expert. Some people come along for the games, some come for the chat, and most enjoy a bit of both.

Games Night is ideal if you like:

  • Board games with a relaxed pace

  • Light-hearted competition

  • Meeting people in a friendly setting

  • An evening out that does not need a lot of planning

If you have not been before, this is one of the easiest events to join in. £2 per person entry. Free entry into the raffle.

Bingo Night brings cash prizes

Our monthly Bingo Night is on Monday 12 October at 7pm.

Books are £10 per book, and there will be cash prizes to play for. Bring your lucky pen, keep your eyes on the numbers, and get ready to shout House when your moment comes.

Bingo Night is always popular because it is easy to follow and full of little bursts of excitement. It does not matter if you have played for years or only know the basics. The fun is in the shared suspense as everyone waits for the next number to be called.

It is also a good evening for coming with friends, family, or neighbours. You can settle in, enjoy the atmosphere, and maybe go home with a prize.

Whist Drive offers a friendly evening of cards

On Wednesday 14 October from 7pm, the Club will host a its regular Whist Drive.

This is for anyone who enjoys card games in good company. The group is friendly, so it is a welcoming option for regular card players as well as anyone who wants to get back into playing.

Whist has a steady pace and a social feel. It rewards attention and good card sense, but the main point of the evening is to enjoy the game together. If you like traditional card nights, this is one to put in the diary.

Quiz Night returns after September cancellation

Our monthly Quiz Night returns on Friday 30 October at 7pm.

After the September event was cancelled, we are hoping for a bumper turnout from our dedicated quizzers. It should be a fun evening whether you know every answer, only know a few, or are there to cheer on the team member who always seems to remember the obscure facts.

Quiz Night is one of those events where the atmosphere matters just as much as the score. There will be questions, guesses, groans, laughs, and probably at least one answer that everyone argues about afterwards.

Free first aid training takes place in November

On Monday 2 November at 7pm, one of our frequent clients has booked the function room for a free first aid training session.

The training is due to include:

  • CPR

  • Defibrillator awareness

  • Bandaging training

  • Basic support for emergency situations

There are only six free places available for anyone who would like to take part. Please contact Tom to be added to the list.

Love to Move sessions are planned for winter

From November, the Club is hoping to offer Love to Move sessions for members and visitors.

These will be basic keep fit classes at a small cost per person. The sessions will mainly involve chair exercises, making them a gentle way to keep moving through the winter months.

The focus will be on accessible movement rather than intense exercise. Chair-based activity can be a helpful option for people who want to stay active but prefer something steady, supported, and manageable.

If there is enough interest, these sessions could become a welcome part of the Club’s regular calendar. They offer a reason to get out, move a little, and keep connected when colder weather can make it tempting to stay indoors.

Anyone interested in taking part should register their interest with Becky.
